Let's Encrypt are releasing free SSL certificates
They've not officially launched yet but they've been releasing free SSL certificates for about the past 7 months.
I've successfully installed a certificate using "letsencrypt-win-simple" and it took under a minute.
Currently the certificates are valid for 3 months only. They're working on automated renewal tools but perhaps they'll extend the validity period too as I would imagine it would make many web admins feel a bit nervous.
Anyway, impressive stuff and something to keep an eye on.
